Transition to Primary School

A January school holiday online program supporting Autistic and Neurodivergent students moving from kinder to Prep/Foundation.

Our Transition to Primary School groups support Autistic and neurodivergent children moving from kinder to Prep/Foundation. In small, online sessions, we create a calm, predictable space to practise the skills and routines that make the first school year feel safe and doable.

Led by trained, relatable mentors with lived experience of autism, each weekly 60-minute session blends visual supports, short activities, and gentle coaching. Children learn what a school day looks like – bells, lining up, classroom expectations, and playtime – and practise asking for help, joining games, and managing big feelings. Caregivers receive simple tools to set up success at home: morning routines, packing bags and lunchboxes, toileting and uniform plans, sensory strategies (headphones, movement breaks), and after-school decompression.

Across two weeks, participants build a “first-year toolbox”: visual schedules, social stories, friendship scripts, and step-by-step checklists for drop-off, recess/lunch, assemblies, and getting from classroom to playground and back again. It’s strengths-based, neuro-affirming, and designed so children never have to mask to belong.

This NDIS friendly program is ideal for children beginning Prep/Foundation next school year and families who want clear, practical preparation for a confident start.
