WHO, HOW & WHY?

I CAN Online is a place where Autistic young people can be themselves without needing to mask or fit in. It gives them the chance to connect with peers who share their interests, build meaningful connections, and be part of a supportive community.

With guidance from I CAN Mentors as positive role models, participants can build confidence, strengthen connections, and develop skills that support everyday life.

Each group includes up to nine mentees and two I CAN Mentors. Every team includes at least one autistic mentor and, in most cases, both mentors are autistic. All groups are offered on a mixed-gender basis.

Participants join each session live via Zoom using the session link provided after registration. Age groups are advertised broadly, and we place participants as closely as possible within their age bracket. As a guide, groups are generally 8–13 years, 13–17 years, and 17–22 years.

In some cases, a special interest group may include a wider age range, with parental discretion. The program builds confidence and social connection in a safe, positive environment, allowing each young person to move at a pace that feels right for them. Every session offers flexibility, so participants can engage in a way that meets their needs on the day.

NOTE: *All I CAN Mentors and staff have completed our child protection training and hold current WORKING WITH CHILD CHECKS OR BLUE CARDS.
