About +

Our Transition to High School Groups are designed to support autistic/neurodivergent students transitioning from primary school to Year 7. These small-group sessions provide a safe, supportive space for young people to prepare for the changes and challenges of starting high school.

These groups are led by relatable, trained mentors. Young adults who are either recent high school graduates or are currently completing their final years. They bring real-life insights and experiences, creating a supportive environment that fosters connection, growth, and shared understanding.
Who It's For +

This Transition to High School Group is a focused session designed just for students stepping into Year 7. Although this group operates under our Cycle or Online program offerings, it’s completely standalone with its own tailored curriculum, mentors, and community.

It is online, and attendees meet on Zoom. Same time, same mentors, for daily 60-minute sessions. Guided by trained autistic mentors, participants explore a shared journey, connect with each other, and grow their confidence in a place where they never have to mask or apologise for being themselves.
Payment & Invoicing +

Because our Transition to High School Program is an online mentoring service and not an allied-health or therapy service, invoices are issued at the conclusion of each Program and reference the relevant NDIS support item number (for more information, see Key Details).

We cannot modify invoices or split payments, and invoices will be sent directly to nominated plan managers if these details are provided in the service agreement. Please speak with your plan manager or support coordinator for personalised NDIS advice.

To apply visit the ‘Expression of Interest – Online Mentoring’ form via the ‘APPLY NOW’ button below. This is the same EOI form that is used for any Online enrolments.

Submit an Expression of Interest

Takes approximately 3 minutes. Enter your details, nominate ‘Transition to High School’ as your group preference and hit submit – no payment is needed yet. Invoices will be sent directly to you or your plan manager after the program ends.

Accept Your Offer & Secure the Seat

When a space is available, we will email you an offer and notify you via SMS. Once you’ve reviewed your offer and signed the Service Agreement found in your offer, your position will be secured!

Receive Your Welcome Email

Closer to the starting date you’ll receive an email that includes your personal Zoom link, a Social Story PDF, your Mentor’s bios and the first-weeks conversation prompts to help feel ready.

60-min sessions – same day, same time, same group, same mentors. We send a reminder each week with session prompts. If you need to skip or if you miss a session that’s okay, simply re-join the next session.

What is the Transition to High School group?

This is a specialised, online mentoring group for Autistic and Neurodivergent students who are currently in Year 6 and preparing to start Year 7 in 2026. It provides practical strategies and emotional support to help ease the transition from primary to high school.
What does the Transition to High School program involve?
The group runs with sessions held on Zoom. Each session is led by relatable mentors – young adults who have recently experienced high school themselves. Participants explore a range of topics including:

Develop skills to identify trusted people who can support them at school

Build capacity to manage stress and decompressing after each school day

Become familiar with high school timetables and lockers while managing the change between classes and environments

Become familiar with daily routines so that they can start the school day with confidence
Who facilitates the sessions?

All I CAN Online groups are led by trained mentors, many of whom are Autistic or Neurodivergent themselves. For the Transition to High School program, mentors are relatable young adults who have recent, lived experience with high school and bring valuable insight and empathy to the group.
How are the sessions structured?

Participants meet online (via Zoom) with the same mentors and peers each week. This consistency helps build trust, routine, and a strong sense of belonging. Each session follows a clear structure that includes open discussion, mentor sharing, and practical skill-building.
Is this a special interest group?

No. The Transition to High School group is not based on a specific interest like Minecraft or art. Instead, it focuses on life skills and social-emotional preparation for high school, which may benefit mentees who thrive in a more structured or purpose-driven environment.
What is the cost and how do we enrol?

Is this program suitable for my child?
Can my child participate in more than one cycle of the Transition to High School program?

Absolutely! We offer the multiple Transition to High School programs during the year. Many participants enrol in a cycle, and then may also enrol in a holiday program. Each session is presented differently and covers new content, but the core features are the same. Repeating the program can be incredibly beneficial for reinforcing key concepts, building confidence over time, and helping young people further develop their skills in preparation for high school.
How many participants are in each group?
What if my child is nervous or unsure about joining?

That’s completely okay and very common! Our mentors are trained to gently welcome new participants, support different communication styles, and help mentees feel safe to be themselves without pressure to perform, mask, or explain their differences. Mentees are able to choose how they communicate, with the option to use their camera, microphone and/or the group chat.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

To participate you/ your young person need to:

Currently in one of the age groups specified and located in Australia.
Aware that they are Autistic, unless participating in the I CAN Imagination Club® group.
Comfortable engaging via online and understanding that this may provide some sensory challenges for individuals who are sound sensitive as the online environment may prove to be noisy in some sessions.
Willing to take part in a group activity in the afternoon or evening (this can be difficult for some individuals who need significant “down time” in the evening, so please consider preferences and needs)
Can attend the allocated day and time.
Be aware that an Expression of Interest form has been submitted and is willing to participate.
Understand that a cancellation policy is in place and is willing to accept its terms upon acceptance of a spot.
Will need to be able to abide by our ICT terms and conditions which ensure online safety and positive cyber participation.
