I CAN® Online TRANSITION TO HIGH SCHOOL

Our Transition to High School Groups are designed to support Autistic and Neurodivergent students transitioning from primary school to Year 7. These small-group sessions provide a safe, supportive space for young people to prepare for the changes and challenges of starting high school.

These groups are led by relatable, trained mentors – young adults who are either recent high school graduates or currently completing their final years. They bring real-life insights and experiences, creating a supportive environment that fosters connection, growth, and shared understanding.

This Transition to High School Group is a focused session designed just for students stepping into Year 7. While it operates under the Cycle 4 umbrella, running on the same schedule and alongside our other Cycle 4 offerings, it’s completely standalone with its own tailored curriculum, mentors, and community. It is online and attendees meet on Zoom – same day, same time, same mentors, for six weekly 60-minute sessions. Guided by trained autistic mentors, participants explore a shared journey, connect with each other, and grow their confidence in a place where they never have to mask or apologise for being themselves.

Over the course of the program, participants will build a metaphorical “toolbox” filled with strategies and skills to help them navigate the transition with confidence. Topics include:

  • Develop skills to identify trusted supports at school
  • Build capacity to manage stress and decompress after each school day
  • Become familiar with daily preparation routines so they start every school day with confidence
  • Become familiar with high-school timetables and lockers while managing the change between classes and environments

This program is ideal for students beginning Year 7 in 2026 and looking for support and practical tools for a positive start to high school.
